Summer term 2026 – Newsletter 17
Somercotes Infants School – Newsletter 17
Dear Somercotes families,
What a busy end to the academic year! I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support this year. School has made fantastic progress and continues to move forwards in all areas. I am immensely proud of our school, our children and our school community. The children have made amazing progress! When we think back to the little people who walked through our doors on the first day of the year, to the confident learners who are walking back out of those same doors at the end, proud truly is the best word.
Welcome / Hello again / See you soon
As we approach the end of the academic year we prepare to say goodbye to our Year 2 children. We wish you all the luck as you move on to the next stage of your academic journeys.
We also say ‘See you soon” to Miss O’Neill who moves on to her new position as class teacher in her new school!
We say ‘Welcome back’ to Miss Camm who returns to us in September following the birth of her son.
We also say ‘Welcome back’ to Miss G, who joins our staff team from September following her successful college placements.
Finally, we say ‘See you soon’ to Miss Brough who leaves us at the end of this academic year.
School Reward Badges
Next week we will begin to collect in all reward badges in preparation for next academic year. This year has shown a big reduction in the numbers of reward badges returned and swapped for the child’s next colour level. Moving into next academic year, badges will not be able to be issued without a trade in of the previous colour. A reminder that if you have any badges at home then please do bring them back as there is a cost to families of £1.50 per lost badge.
Coffee Morning
Monday is our final parent coffee morning of the year.

Diary Dates
Finally, please find below our provisional diary dates for next academic year!

Warm regards,
Mr Rowland, Headteacher
