Spring Term 2026 – Newsletter 12
Somercotes Infant School – Newsletter
Dear Somercotes families,
We have an exciting newsletter today as we approach the Easter break, with lots of events and enrichment to look forwards to.
Another Congratulations
Last week we were proud to share that we had our first GOLD learner of the academic year, and now I am delighted to say that we now have four more! A huge congratulations to Ivy and Teddie for being KIND, READY and WORKing HARD and earning their gold badge last week. Also a huge well done to Maddie and Sofia who have earned their gold this week! Keep up the amazing work all!
Easter Events
This week you should have received the first of our Easter events, the School Council Easter colouring competition! This is being organised and judged by our school council. All entries must be in by Wednesday 25th March, with the child’s name written on the back of the page (not visible on the front as this could influence judging!).
A huge thank you also goes out to Paisley and family from the Dragonflies class who have donated a full jar of mini eggs for our Easter competition, along with some other goodies. All proceeds from the competition, as with the Christmas raffles, will continue to go back to the children enabling us to continue to provide exciting enrichment activities and further exciting events in school.
School Trip
Finally, thanks to the continued support of our school families, Mr Lillie’s previous fundraising, contributions from local business’ and the tireless work of our staff team, we are delighted to announce that this year’s whole school trip will be heavily subsidised and will be available for all families at the discounted cost of £3.50 per child!
This year we have booked to take the children to Chatsworth House on Friday 26th June to explore the farmyard and adventure playground. Each class will also benefit from a specific workshop / experience. This visit should be costing £17.00 per child, so again our thanks go out to all who have contributed.
The school team are working on the planning and risk assessments process, and will be in touch in the near future with further information.
Once again, thank you for your continued support. We now look forward to the amazing time that we have ahead of us this academic year, full of learning and lots of fun! As always, should you have any questions or wish to discuss anything further please do not hesitate to ask.
Warm regards,
Mr Rowland
