Mission, Vision & Culture
Our Mission: Working together to enable our children and families to achieve their full potential and be successful in our diverse world
Our Mission
At Somercotes Infants School we work closely with children and families to support all to be the best that they can be. We aim to teach the children to Be Kind, Be Ready and to Work Hard, whilst also teaching the wider curriculum through our social norms.
We provide a warm, safe and engaging learning environment where every child feels valued. We believe in nurturing every child, promoting positive relationships and cultivating a strong sense of community.

Our Vision
Aspiration
This is embedded through our rule of ‘Work Hard’:
We expect all children to work hard and apply themselves in all aspects of school life.
Communication
This is embedded through our rule of ‘Be Ready’. We ensure that reading and oracy is at the heart of our curriculum to enable children to access all parts of school life:
We encourage all to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.
We encourage all to use high quality vocabulary in their speech.
We encourage all to promote a love of reading.
Equality
This is embedded through our rule of ‘Be Kind’. We expect all children to be inclusive members of our school community, and to recognise and respect diversity:
We encourage our children to recognise similarities and differences between people and communities.
We encourage all to be Kind to all.
We encourage all to be a positive part of the school community
Our Culture
Be Kind
Positive culture of kindness, where everyone is included and looks out for one another to create a happy environment.
Be Ready
Believe that you can do anything; keep trying even when it’s tough.
Work Hard
Notice those in need and work collaboratively to help them.
All visitors to our school acknowledge the calm and welcoming learning environment where the culture is lived by all. All are Ready, Kind and Work ard to enable our children and families to achieve their full potential.
