Our Hodthorpe Family Team have the children at the heart of everything we do. We ensure that they are happy, confident and their individual talents and needs are recognised, developed and that all children flourish in our care.

Through our new, exciting and engaging curriculum we inspire, create memories and form positive relationships. We encourage a healthy lifestyle and mind-set by developing personal skills to help children cope with the ever changing challenges that the world can throw at them. Our creative and challenging lessons, help instil a love of learning encouraging independence, resilience and an inquisitive nature. We strive to ensure that each child reaches their potential, has the skills to be a life-long learner and is able to make a positive contribution to society.

Our Hodthorpe Family Team includes parents, carers, the local community and our Governors (or School Champions as we call them). Parents and carers are very supportive and involve themselves in the life of the school and the development and education of their children. We value parents’ opinions and support and work in partnership with them. The local community is eager to help and enrich our curriculum with local businesses working with us regularly. Our School Champions are an important part of school life, providing support and challenge to help us to provide the best for our pupils. We also work well with other schools in the Learners’ Trust.

I hope that this website will give you a taste of our fantastic school and an insight into the wonderful Hodthorpe Family Team. This website content will grow and develop over time, but this can never replace the first-hand experience of coming to visit us. Please feel free to contact the team if you would like to visit us or if you have any questions or suggestions.

We look forward to meeting you and thank you for visiting our website!

Our school day begins at 8:40am and we finish at 3:10pm (32.5 hours per week)

Hodthorpe Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff are employed subject to a DBS check and undergo Safeguarding training prior to starting their role. There is annual Safeguarding training for all staff at Hodthorpe Primary School.

All schools within the Learners’ Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare, both physical and emotional, of every pupil both inside and outside of the school premises. We implement a whole-school preventative approach to managing safeguarding concerns, ensuring that the wellbeing of pupils is at the forefront of all action taken.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy which can be viewed in the Safeguarding section of our website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare. If a member of staff is concerned about a child’s welfare, they will record their concern, and any observations or conversation heard using our secure online system CPOMS. The concern will also be reported to one of the DSLs as soon as possible the same day.

If a member of staff has concerns which relate to the actions or behaviour of another member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children), then this will be reported to the DSL or the Deputy DSL in confidence, who will refer the matter to the Headteacher (or the Chair of School Champions/Safeguarding link Trust Partner if the concern relates to the Headteacher) who will consider what action to take.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

If you are ever concerned about the safety or well‐being of someone at our school, please talk to one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs).
